Allianz Ireland Apprenticeships

Allianz Ireland, part of Allianz SE the world’s most valuable insurance brand*,  are delighted to partner with the Insurance Institute of Ireland (III) to recruit 6 Allianz Apprentices to our Claims and Underwriting Teams, to start with us in September 2016.

The III Apprenticeship, in partnership with IT Sligo, is the first apprenticeship in Ireland that allows you to gain a Level 8 Honours Degree within 3 years, as part of an “earn as you learn” model.

As an Allianz Apprentice, you will gain valuable industry experience, become a Chartered Insurance Practitioner (CIP), and earn an Honours Degree in Business from IT Sligo, while earning a full time salary, with time away from the office to support your studies.

Practically, this means you will work on-site in Allianz House, our Irish HQ, and attend online web lectures and tutorials from IT Sligo. You will also be supported through the Insurance Industry exams, the CIP, and will have access to an on-site Allianz mentor who will support you through the learning and work programme.

Working in Claims

Our Claims Teams are the people that take care of our customers during times of stress; after a car crash, a burglary or when a pet needs to visit the vet. They deal directly with our personal and business customers, working to settle claims in a fair and timely manner.

Most claims handlers will specialise in an area over time, handling pet, motor, property or injury claims.

Within the insurance industry, there is an increased emphasis on controlling the costs of fraudulent claims, so a career in in this area may even mean that you become involved in detailed investigations, review accident reports and attend court proceedings.

Working in Underwriting

Underwriting within any insurance company is the area responsible for assessing the risk behind the insurance products that are sold. In real terms, underwriters make sure that the price you pay for your motor insurance is enough to cover costs, including the cost of replacing your car, and to cover any claims costs incurred by injury.

Underwriting also works closely with business customers and broker partners to make sure that the cover applied is enough to protect against potential losses across a number of areas, like liability, property and even marine insurance.

Within underwriting itself, it’s also possible to have very different responsibilities; a career here could involve working closely with actuaries, pricing and developing products, working with brokers to design cover or analysing the health of the overall risk held by a company.

At Allianz, our apprentices are ambitious, self-motivated and committed to success. Allianz is the home for those to dare.

Allianz Apprenticeship - Application Process

To apply for the Allianz Apprenticeship, you must meet the minimum educational criteria, which can be found on the III website here: http://www.iii.ie/upload/careers/Entry-Requirements.pdf
