The beautiful Antrim Castle Gardens will be abuzz from the 4th - 6th May as the Allianz Garden Show Ireland 2018 returns for its three day festival of flowers, food and family fun where local growers, food and beverage producers, artists and entertainers await you.  Allianz has supported people and communities since 1890 and has proudly supported this great community event for the last 8 years.

What’s Happening?

As always, gardening experts will be on hand to advise the best way to develop and innovate your garden. This year’s feature garden, “Meditation Garden”, will demonstrate the positive effect gardening has on mental health.

Considering the environmental issues facing the world today, the presentation of the Best of Northern Ireland Eco Gardens are sure to be an interesting insight into the sustainability of gardening and the key role it plays in preserving the planet. As a major global insurer operating for decades in Northern Ireland, Allianz is deeply committed to this important topic.

Once again Resident Chef, Paula McIntyre, will use local Northern Irish produce in her ‘Outdoor Dining’ demo and will show how to best use vegetables and herbs in a variety of meals. Mark Diacono, of Otter Farm, will then share his love for the eccentric but tasty foods he grows in his own farm in Devon.

Once you’ve whetted your appetite, why not satisfy your hunger at the NI Food Market? Artisan food stalls have everything from locally reared beef to organic salads and not forgetting the locally crafted ciders and cream tea available at the Punjana Tea Pavilion.

Family Fun

There will be lots of fun filled activities appealing to all age groups such as live music, a dedicated kid’s zone with kite making, insect hotels, archery and gardening challenges! For many months now, junior school children all over NI have been busy with their teachers preparing fabulous Scarecrows and miniature gardens which will be displayed on the Allianz Scarecrow Avenue at the show.  Come along and see these wonderful creations or, better still… be photographed with them!  A big shout out of “thanks” to busy teachers who help their pupils produce these wonderful creations.
