With just weeks to go, we look forward with excitement to the Allianz World Para European Swimming Championship, which takes place in Dublin’s National Aquatic Centre between August 13th and 19th. Following a successful Paralympic Ireland bid in 2015, this eagerly awaited event is literally 3 year’s in the making and will the first ever international Para Swimming event to be held in Ireland. Team Ireland will take on the very best that Europe has to offer in what will be many memorable encounters, as incredible athletes compete for merit over the 6 days of competition. There will be an endless supply of thrills and spills as established names go head-to-head once again, and no doubt, many new faces will emerge as the Para Swimming world accelerates ever closer to Tokyo 2020.
Allianz has actively supported people and communities since 1890 and is a keen advocate of elite disability sport. Since partnering with Paralympic Ireland, para sport in Ireland has gone from strength to strength - resulting in a greater understanding of the sport, much greater visibility for our athletes and a far higher appreciation by members of the public of their incredible achievements. Allianz has helped achieve this for para sport in Ireland by using its influence with Irish broadcasters and media to increase their coverage of both the London (2012) and Rio (2016) Paralympic Games and by leveraging Allianz SE sponsorship investments in World and European Para Swim and Athletic events. We are therefore really proud of the support we are giving Paralympics Ireland to bring the prestigious World Para Swimming Allianz European Championship to Dublin. Whilst we will be rooting for Team Ireland, we know that competitors from overseas will be given a very warm welcome by our Irish athletes and by the people of Dublin. We are, after all, famous for that Céad Míle Fáilte welcome!
To help promote the Allianz World Para European Swimming Championship we have commissioned our Allianz Brand Ambassador Ellen Keane to appear in our latest Allianz Brand TV advert. Ellen has also given us valuable insights to her role as an elite swimmer, which will be ceded out across our social media channels up to and including the Championship.
