The winter months can be a long haul for many people. The short, dark days, coupled with a sharp change in temperatures can lead to some people feeling the winter blues. Experts say that one of the best ways to get out of your winter slump can be to book a trip away. Most people’s mood will be lifted if they have something to look forward to. Take a look at some ideas for trips to help lift your mood!

Skiing in the Alps
It’s important not to always associate winter with doom and gloom; Why not make the most of the winter weather with a skiing trip to Italy, France, or Switzerland! You’re likely to get the best of both worlds with an abundance of snow on the mountains while the sun is shining. You also get to exercise everyday whilst skiing or snowboarding, which can help you feel more revitalized in the months ahead!

The Canary Islands
The beautiful islands of Tenerife, Lanzarote, Gran Canaria, and Fuerteventura can almost guarantee great weather during the winter months. The islands have a constant springtime climate that keeps tourists coming back year on year. Plus, in the off-season winter months, flights tend to be quite cheap. You will never be short of things to do on the islands – it can be a golfer’s paradise with some of the best courses in Europe, a hit for the hikers with its volcanic landscape, and the island of Tenerife also boasts Europe’s best water park – Siam Park! It’s no wonder the Canary Islands are a popular destination during the winter months.

Lisbon, Portugal
Lisbon is certainly one of the most attractive European cities. Not only is it the warmest capital city in Europe, it’s a city with great character, from its elevated streets and mouth-watering restaurants to its trams and castles, you will most certainly not be short of options! Flights and accommodation are reasonable in price and with smaller crowds of tourists in the winter months, helps to make it all the more attractive to visit.

A Staycation: Belfast
Maybe you don’t want to go far this winter. Why not take a city break for a weekend in Northern Ireland! Belfast is a beautiful city with friendly people, and lots to see and do such as the Titanic Belfast, Belfast City Hall, W5 interactive exhibition, or filming locations for Game of Throne. Belfast really is a city break worth considering.

A Staycation: Galway
Galway is one of Ireland’s most picturesque cities, recently gaining the honour of European Capital of Culture for 2020. With bustling pubs across the city and a vibrant live music scene, the nightlife in Galway city is like no other. As part of the Wild Atlantic Way, Galway is host to some beautiful scenery. A day trip to the Connemara Gaeltacht region or the Aran Islands, or simply a walk along the promenade in Salthill gives you the chance to see all that Galway has to offer!
