June has been a very busy month as I have just finished performing a contemporary production of Cinderella here with Semperoper Ballett. This was a very modern Cinderella, choreographed by Stijn Celis, whose work I’d never seen before let alone performed before joining Semperoper. French Principal Fabien Voranger was my ‘Prince Charming’, the stepmother and step-sisters were all played by male dancers, rocking heels and dresses. I wore a simple blue slip dress and then transformed for the ball scene into a gorgeous, sparkling red gown.

Right now I am in France, half-way through four weeks of intensive work with my coach Masha Mukhamedov, to prepare for my debut in ‘Giselle’ with the Kremlin Ballet on September 24. Depending on your stature and contacts, you can get invites from companies around the world to perform not necessarily just in your home company. It’s a huge privilege and honour for me to get invited to Russia and I’m really looking forward to it.

After my time training in France last month I’m back at Semperoper now at the start of a new season and the weather in Dresden is absolutely beautiful. Whether in ballet school or professional companies, the beginning of a new dancing year should be something to be excited about. You go back after your summer break with new hopes, new visions and new intentions, refreshed and enthusiastic with new goals set.
