April CSR Round Up
April was a busy month for Allianz with a number of events taking place as part of the Active & Aware and Team Allianz CSR campaigns.
We are currently working with See Change to help create an environment where people are positive about their own and others wellbeing. On April 4th & 5th our Wellbeing Champions attended Mental Health First Aid Training in Saint John of God Hospital. These volunteers will be the ‘go to team’ and will provide direction and clarity for colleagues in need of support.
Chris Flack from Unplug visited us on 7th April to give a talk on How to Unplug and destress from modern day technology, a very interesting topic for us all.
Irish Heart Foundation Nutritionist Janis Morrissey was also here to talk to our employees on April 20th about minding their Heart Health and decoding the fads from the scientific fact in nutrition, her leaflet with tips on to look after our ‘heart health’ was great.
Self Defence classes came to an end in April. This 8 week program was designed to increase employees’ awareness of the safety of their surroundings. Attendees found the classes very beneficial and came away with a practical and realistic approach to self protection.
National Workplace Wellbeing Day
April 8th was National Workplace Wellbeing Day. Allianz employees were out in force to walk the lunchtime mile; we had massages and Tai Chi demonstrations for staff to get them relaxed for the day and also Walking Talking Fruit.
The day ended in two fascinating talks on how to fuel your body in a clean and sustainable way from model, Nutritionist and Wellness expert Alison Canavan.
Irish Therapy Dogs & The Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland
On April 11th Ireland AM and Pete Wedderburn, TV3 Celebrity Veterinary Surgeon, visited one of the Alzheimer’s Care Centres.to film the introduction of Irish Therapy Dogs to the centre. This was aired on the Ireland AM programme on April13th. This marked the launch of a new partnership between the Irish therapy Dog’s and the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland.
Junior Achievement – Dragon’s Lair & MyFinance Coach
April finished on an exciting note with our relationship with Junior Achievement. Our volunteers helped out with a Dragon’s Lair event and spoke to a number of secondary school groups about internet security as part of the MyFinance Coach programme.
The Dragons Lair event saw students from St Patricks School Dun Laoghaire come to Allianz to pitch their business plans and ideas to our 2 Dragons, Bobby Kerr and Gavin Duffy. The day finished with Gavin Duffy giving a motivational talk to staff on entrepreneurship.
As you can see, April was a very busy month for Allianz. We’re looking forward to seeing what May has in store and hope you are too!
