May was a great month for our CSR and Active and Aware campaigns. June was just as busy with it being Cancer Awareness month, our Come Dine with Us evening in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society, mindfulness classes and more!!
Cancer Awareness month in Allianz
Domini Kemp born in the Bahamas has created a veritable empire on the Irish food scene with her sister Peaches. ITSA Bagel, Alchemy Juice Co. and Feast Catering. We were delighted to welcome her to Allianz to hear her story on how it all began, her life as an entrepreneur, how she dealt with her devastating diagnosis with Cancer and how she prevented her life from spiralling out of control during this period.
Having been diagnosed with breast cancer in 2013, Domini asserted some semblance of self control by researching foods and diet that would support her immune system. Domini spoke to us about the Ketogenic diet and how this diet is viewed by the vast majority of nutritionists and organisations as a radical approach and is receiving quite a lot of negative press as the premise of the diet turns the conventional food pyramid literally on its head. There is emergent medical support for this perspective, but it takes time to reverse previously held beliefs. If you would like to learn a little more about this diet you can find it in her book is the Ketogenic Kitchen.
Domini delivered a very engaging workshop on how to cope with a very daunting and frightening illness. She displayed remarkable strength in proactively taking control and managing her health through fortifying her body by adapting her nutrition to help support and aid in tackling the illness, in a responsible and positive manner. Her approach worked in conjunction with her medical treatment plan and was not in replacement of medical intervention, but rather worked alongside it.

'Come Dine With Me’ evening…in aid of the Alzheimer’s Society of Ireland
Allianz hosted our first ever Come Dine With Us evening on the 30th of June to help raise some much needed funding for our Corporate Charity ‘The Alzheimer Society of Ireland’. And we are delighted to announce that our evening raised an incredible €2146.32.
We were literally bowled over by the professionalism of each of our Teams. On the night we had 4 Allianz teams; On Canapés we had The Cereal Killers, Starters were our Soup-a-Starters Team, our Main Course was the Natural Born Grillers and last but by no means least we had The incrEDIBLES. They designed, prepared and served the 100 guests on the evening and the guest in return selected the winners. Of course our wonderful kitchen team were on hand to support our teams in producing 4 course of delicious food. We would also like to take this opportunity to thank all the local companies who helped to make the evening a success, thanks you to: The Jar, Farmer Browns Bath Avenue, Dublin Cookery School, OPW, Butler’s Pantry and Cinnamon Restaurants.
Congratulations to The Cereal Killers who created a wonderful Canapés course and were selected as the evenings overall winners.
