Horse & Rider Insurance: Claims Information

You must tell us immediately of any loss, damage, accident, illness or injury and give details of how the loss, damage, accident illness of injury occurred. In addition, you will be required to produce, at your own expense, all necessary documents and information, including details of the horse's history and post mortem examination to support any loss and forward these to us along with relevant claims forms.

 

Vet Fees:

You will need to fill in a claim form .

You can phone our Claims Team on 01 613 3990 and ask for a claim form or print the relevant claim form below.

Before your horse is treated, you must make sure that the Vet is prepared to fill in our claim form and provide invoices.

You will need to contact the Claims team as soon as possible, we may then refer the case history to a Vet that we have chosen.

If you know that you have some expensive veterinary treatment coming up and you are unsure about whether you will be able to claim for some or all of the cost of treatment, then you and your Vet can send us a completed pre-authorisation claim form before treatment starts.

Both you and the Vet must complete the claim form in the appropriate parts. We will not pay for the vet to do this.

You will need to send us a fully completed claims form, a clinical history, veterinary reports and invoices from the Vet and a referral report if applicable.

You may need to also send us clinical histories from all of the Vets your horse has attended.

Please note that for complementary treatment to be covered it needs to be instructed by a Vet in writing following their examination of the horse.

 

When To Claim?

You should normally send us your claim at the end of treatment or the end of the policy year if the treatment has not finished by this time.

 

Emergency Vet Fees:

Theft And Straying:

You will need to fill in a claim form .

You can phone our Claims Team on 01 613 3990 and ask for a claim form or print the relevant claim form below.

As soon as you discover your horse is missing, you will need to:

Notify the Gardai and provide them with the horse's passport and microchip number and provide evidence to us that you have done so.

You will need to send us a fully completed claims form along with a Gardai report.

 

Advertising And Reward:

You will need to fill in a claim form .

You can phone our Claims Team on 01 613 3990 and ask for a claim form or print the relevant claim form below.

Please phone us for approval of any reward before you advertise it.

You will need to send us the claim form fully completed along with invoices and receipts to show the costs involved. If you have paid a reward, please include a signed receipt giving full name and address of the person who provided information which led to the recovery of the horse. A written statement from the person who received the reward with details of the circumstances which led to the recovery, will also need to be submitted.

 

Death Of A Horse From Injury Or Illness:

You will need to fill in a claim form.

You will need to contact the Claims team as soon as possible, we may then refer the case history to a Vet that we have chosen.

You will need to arrange and pay for a post mortem examination to be carried out as soon as possible.

You will need to send us the claim form fully completed along with the receipt or written justification of value from when you bought your horse (if applicable), evidence of your legal ownership of the horse, a clinical history, a death certificate and post mortem report confirming the cause of death - we will not pay the Vet to do this.

You may need to also send us clinical histories from all of the Vets your horse has attended.

If the Horse is on permanent loan or lease, we will also require written confirmation from the owner to state that you are at a financial loss from the death of the horse.

 

Saddlery and Tack:

You will need to fill in a claim form.

You can phone our Claims Team on 01 613 3990 and ask for a claim form or print the relevant claim form below.

As soon as you discover your saddlery or tack has been lost, stolen, or deliberately damaged, you will need to:

Notify the Gardai and ask for the crime reference number or written confirmation of your report.

You will need to send us a fully completed claims form, a Gardai report along with formal proof of purchase that shows the make, model and date of purchase for any saddle or item of tack in excess of €500. 

 

Disposal:

You will need to fill in a claim form.

You will need to send us a fully completed claims form along with a receipt showing the cost of removing and disposing of the Horses carcass.

 

Permanent Loss of Use:

You will need to fill in a claim form.

You can phone our Claims Team on 01 613 3990 and ask for a claim form or print the relevant claim form below.

You will need you contact us as soon as possible if you think your horse could be a permanent loss of use case as we may need to get our Vet to examine the horse. 

You will need to send us a fully completed claims form, a clinical history, and a report from your Vet stating that the horse will never be able to take part in any one of the activities set out in the schedule. This report should include details of the horses illness or injury and the reason for the opinion.

You may need to also send us clinical histories from all of the Vets your horse has attended.

If the horse is on permanent loan or lease, we will also require written confirmation from the owner to state that you are at a financial loss from the permanent loss of use of the horse.

Once we have agreed the settlement of your claim, you must agree to have the loss of use freeze mark placed on the horse. We will not make any claim payment until we have received confirmation that the freeze mark has been done. If you have decided to euthanase the horse, we will need veterinary confirmation that the horse has been euthanased. 

 

Rider Personal Accident:

You will need to fill in a claim form.

You will need to send us a fully completed claims form along with any medical or dental reports and invoices.

 

Trailer/Horse Drawn Vehicle:

You will need to fill in a claim form.

You can phone our Claims Team on 01 613 3990 and ask for a claim form or print the relevant claim form below.

You will need to send us a fully completed claims form and some or all of the following depending on your claim; original purchase receipt, two estimates of repair, crime report, quotation for current replacement, advertisements, letter from supplier to support current value, repairers written confirmation that the trailer is damaged beyond repair.

 

Third Party Liability:

You will need to fill in a claim form .

Don't admit responsibility, or agree to pay any claim or negotiate with any other person following an incident.

Provide us with any information we reasonably ask for.

Allow us to take charge of your claim and allow us to prosecute in your name for our benefit.

Immediately send us any writ, summons or legal documents you receive and you must never send any replies to any of these documents.

 

How Long Will This Claim Take?

We will do everything we can to settle your Claim promptly and efficiently although there may be some factors which can change the course of a Claim. We will do our utmost to resolve the situation with our straightforward approach. The best way to speed up a claim payment, is to ensure that all areas on the claim form are filled in and that all information we ask for is provided as soon as possible.
