If you’re living in rented accommodation, it’s up to you to insure your personal possessions. This includes laptops, mobile phones,
jewellery, clothes and more.
When you have Renters Contents Insurance and your possessions are damaged, destroyed or stolen, you can claim back some or all of
the value with Allianz if the claim is valid.
Your insurance policy covers your possessions in natural, accidental or malicious events, including:

  • Fire, theft, flood, explosion, storm and lightning
  • Smoke damage caused by faulty heaters and cooking appliances in your home
  • Water damage from any plumbing or heating system, fixed water appliance or domestic appliance
  • Vandalism or malicious damage
  • Accidental damage to audio and audio-visual equipment up to €3,000

Covers your possessions damaged or destroyed by fire or smoke. Fire Brigade charges up to €3,000 are also included in
your insurance.
Covers your possessions damaged or destroyed by a storm or flood.
Covers your possessions damaged or destroyed by a sudden escape of water. This can be caused by burst pipes, a broken washing machine and other plumbing issues in the home. You are not covered where the private house has been unoccupied for more than 35 days in a row. Damage caused by gradual leaks from baths, showers, sinks or toilets is also not covered.

Covers your possessions damaged, destroyed or stolen when a burglar forces their way into your home. Your possessions are also covered in the event of an attempted burglary. The cost of replacing stolen external door keys is covered.

You are not covered where the private house has been unoccupied for more than 35 days in a row.

If you have a sudden situation like a water leak or if you’re locked out, Allianz are here 24/7/365 to help and prevent
any further damage to your home. Costs of the call out, labour and materials are covered (up to €300 per incident,
four times per year).
