BREAKDOWN ASSISTANCE

Breakdown Assistance is available as an optional cover on all of our Motor Policies.


The Breakdown Assistance Service is available as an optional extra on our policies for an additional premium and compliments our already established Claims Notification and Emergency Service*. It is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year.

*Accident cover is only available as standard with comprehensive policies.

We will send a competent repairer/towing agentto assist you at the breakdown site.

We will cover the cost of towing your car to the nearest petrol station, or your electric vehicle to the nearest electric vehicle charge point, or your home charge point, whichever is closest. (PLEASE NOTE – In the extremely unlikely event that there are no repairers within a 50km/30 mile radius of your breakdown location you may be liable for additional mileage charges)

We will send up to 2 messages to family members or business contacts on your behalf.

Emergencies covered:

  • Mechanical or electrical breakdown (e.g. flat battery).
  • Puncture that needs help to fix or wheel change.
  • Keys broken in locks or keys locked in your car.
  • Loss or theft of keys.
  • Your car being filled with incorrect fuel type/lubricant.
  • Your car runs out of fuel or your electric vehicle runs out of battery.
  • Your car is involed in an accident.
  • A courtesy car (Class A) for up to 48 hours, to a maximum benefit of £100.
  • When repairs have been carried out on your car in Great Britain we may, with your agreement, make arrangements for you to travel and collect from the repairing garage.
  • Where your car cannot be repaired prior to your departure date, your car will be towed to your departure port. In such circumstances, arrangements will be made to return your car to Ireland and for onward towing to the nearest repairer or to your own garage – whichever is closest. The ferry company may insist that you accompany your car on its homeward journey.

  • Where your car breaks down in Ireland (more than 30km from your home address) and your car cannot be repaired at the breakdown site.
  • A courtesy car (Class A) for up to 48 hours, to a maximum benefit of £100.
  • When repairs have been carried out on your car in Great Britain we may, with your agreement, make arrangements for you to travel and collect from the repairing garage.
  • Where your car cannot be repaired prior to your departure date, your car will be towed to your departure port. In such circumstances, arrangements will be made to return your car to Ireland and for onward towing to the nearest repairer or to your own garage – whichever is closest. The ferry company may insist that you accompany your car on its homeward journey.

With the above options you are required to provide us with details of your ferry ticket.

Allianz Breakdown Assistance provides you with on site roadside support in the event of a breakdown. This ensures a hassle free recovery with the aim of getting you back on the road as quickly as possible.

We supply a complete breakdown assistance service as an optional extra to our car insurance policyholders. With our breakdown assistance you get peace of mind, knowing that your breakdown will be handled efficiently so you and your passengers can get home safely.

  • A trusted and competent repairer will be sent to assist you. We will also cover the cost of towing your car to the nearest garage or to your own garage, whichever is the closest, as long as the garage is within 50km/30m from the location of your breakdown. If the garage you wish to go to exceeds this distance we can offer specially negotiated rates to get you there at your own cost. Where your car runs out of fuel or your electric vehicle runs out of battery, we will tow your car to the nearest petrol station or electric charge point, or your home charge point, whichever is closer.
  • We will also relay two messages to family members or business contacts on your behalf to ensure colleagues and loved ones are informed of your situation.
  • Journey completion for you and your passengers up to a maximum value of €150/ £100.

  • Free courtesy car (class A) for up to 48 hours.

Or

  • Bed & breakfast accommodation when repairs require an overnight stay to a value of €35 per person or to a maximum of €150/ £100.

Allianz breakdown assistance covers all mechanical and electrical breakdowns, punctures and wheel changes and if your car is involved in an accident.

You are also entitled to assistance if your car runs out of fuel, or your electric car runs out of battery, your key breaks in your lock or if your keys are locked into your car.

We understand that breakdowns can be a common occurrence that's why we offer 4 call-outs in any one period of insurance.
