Prevention is always better than cure, so taking these steps may help protect your home.

  • Put away garden furniture and loose items
  • Secure gates and shed doors
  • Check your roof for loose tiles
  • Bring pets indoors
  • Park cars close to buildings and avoid to park near or under trees
  • Draw blinds on windows to protect against the possibility of shattered glass
  • Prepare possible loss of power by making sure you have torches & spare batteries in your home
  • In a blackout your mobile phone can provide a light source
  • Always make sure you and everyone around you is safe.
  • Check for hazards such as fallen power lines or unstable structures near or around your home. 
  • Document the damage that will be relevant for your claim. Take clear photos and videos of all affected areas as soon as it is safe.
  • If you are capable of making temporary repairs, you should do what you can to prevent further damage only if it safe to do so.

  • Lastly, you must contact us as soon as possible to notify us of your claim.   • Lock up, this might sound simple, but it is important to make sure all windows, doors, sheds, etc. are secured and locked
  • Unplug electronics and check batteries
  • Turn off the water
  • Leave a key to your neighbour
