Claims over €50,000 under the premises section of the policy for losses such as but not limited to burst water pipes, fire, flood, storm, subsidence qualify for Rebuild Better once the SEAI grant is granted. Claims under the contents section of your policy do not qualify.
Rebuild Better is a new and exclusive benefit available to Allianz Home Insurance customers who have buildings cover. If you make a claim of €50,000 or more on your policy you will be offered €5,000* on top of your claim to make sustainable energy improvements to your home such as a heat pump system or wall insulation whilst you repair the damage to your home.
Your claim with Allianz will progress as normal and will not be impacted as a result of your SEAI grant application.
Depending on the grant you apply for, you can choose one or multiple options from attic and wall insulation to installation of heat pumps and PV solar panels. More information is available on the SEAI.ie website here.
No, the additional payment of €5,000 does not apply in the event of a total loss. The reason for this is that, in an event of a total loss, your property has to be rebuilt in line with the current building regulations which will include some of the features provided by SEAI grant.

- A loss adjuster will be appointed and get in touch with you to inspect the damage to your property.
- If the claim is valued at €50,000 or more, the loss adjuster will advise you of the €5,000* Rebuild Better payment that is available, provided you go through the SEAI grant process and get approval for an SEAI home energy upgrade grant.
- Your SEAI registered contractor will share information on the completed work with the SEAI & you will receive your grant funding.
- You must then send your receipt of SEAI grant funding and statement of works to Allianz (propertydamage@allianz.ie). We will confirm that the address for the claim is the same as the address where the sustainable home energy upgrades have taken place.
- We will send you an electronic bank transfer for €5,000*
A registered SEAI contractor will carry out the work once you visit the SEAI website and get approval for an SEAI grant.
