Specific Cover FAQs

• Not Covered by Standard Policy: Routine, preventative care like vaccinations, flea/worm control, and annual check-ups are generally excluded from the standard accident and illness policy.  
• Vaccination Requirement: It's important to note that you are usually required to keep your pet's core vaccinations (Distemper, Parvovirus, etc.) up to date for the standard policy to cover any illness that could have been prevented by a vaccine.

• Not covered: Euthanasia is not covered by your policy.  
• Not Covered: The policy usually does not cover burial or cremation costs, as these are not considered veterinary medical procedures.

• Injury/Illness Covered: Most standard accident and illness plans do cover dental treatments like extractions and root canals that are necessary due to a covered accident (e.g., a broken jaw or a chipped tooth from trauma) or a severe dental illness (like gum disease) that is not pre-existing.  
• Routine Cleaning Not Covered: Routine dental check-ups and non-surgical treatments like dental scaling or cleaning are generally excluded from the standard policy. Like vaccinations, these are often considered preventative care.

Yes, Allianz Pet Insurance does cover a holiday cancellation benefit, but it's important to understand the specific conditions and limits. 

Maximum Benefit: The cover is typically up to €1,000. 

Covered Circumstance: It applies if you must cancel or cut short your holiday because your pet is injured and requires life-saving surgery or shows the first clinical signs of an illness that requires immediate life-saving surgery within 7 days before you leave. 

What it Covers: It covers travel and accommodation expenses that you cannot recover. 

Curtailed Holiday: If your pet is staying in the Republic of Ireland during your holiday, it can cover the costs if you must cut short your trip due to your pet being unwell or injured. 

Important Caveat 

This benefit is specifically part of the Allianz Pet Insurance policy and is tied to the pet's severe injury or illness. It is not a "cancel for any reason" policy and does not cover general travel issues unrelated to your pet's health.
