IIDS and Why It’s Good for You As A Customer

IIDS is an abbreviation for the Integrated Information Data Service. This is a shared service operated by Insurance Ireland on behalf of its members and it currently has two aspects which Allianz can utilise:

  • Verifying a customer’s penalty points
  • No Claims Discount (NCD) entitlement

At Allianz, we use your driver number and date of birth to verify your penalty points; and an NCD PIN (where applicable) supplied by you to verify your NCD entitlement; when you wish to take out a motor insurance policy with us.

If you are an existing customer, we will contact you (prior to your renewal date) by post or email to request your driver number information if we do not currently have it on record. It is important that you respond to us promptly as it will enable us to verify your current penalty point information prior to your renewal date; and price your renewal correctly.

For Allianz and other participating insurance companies, IIDS has the following benefits that can be availed of:

  • The NCD service helps to improve your motor insurance customer journey by allowing us verify your No Claims Discount entitlement in real time while also tackling insurance fraud by validating your NCD. It also allows us to provide you with a more accurate price and ultimately, to continue to remain competitive and relevant in the marketplace.

  • The Penalty Points service allows us to verify the identity of drivers to ensure that they are correct and match up with all the policy information that we have. It also allows us get a full view of penalty points, which facilitates us to make an informed decision on whether or not to give a motor quote based on your / their previous driving history.
