Ireland's Most Insured Dogs and Cats

At Allianz we insure thousands of cats and dogs and hundreds of different breeds. We are often asked what are the most common breeds insured in Ireland. There are so many types, shapes, colours and breeds, so to help break it down we have researched our database and pulled out the five most popular Dog and Cat breeds in Ireland.

- Crossbreeds (Dogs)
- Golden Retrievers
- Crossbreed (Cats)
- Cavalier King Charles Spaniel
- Bichon Frise
Dogs
Crossbred dogs are the most commonly insured pet here at Allianz and we think that’s great. Crossbred dogs are often more robust and not as susceptible to inherited congenital diseases that pure-breds can suffer from. Pete the Vet spoke to us recently about choosing a cross-bred rescue dog for your next pet.

Cats:
Cats are insured far less frequently than dogs in Ireland and only account for about 10% of all the pets we insure. We are not quite sure why people insure dogs more often than cats but we would love to hear the thoughts of all you cat owners. We do still cover a large number of different Cat breeds, and similar to that with dogs, crossbred cats account for the majority of cats we cover.
